Case study of a successful Alif Ailaan Volunteers Social Media Campaign
I am happy to share our recent successful social media campaign, which we were able to accomplish with the help of our volunteers in Hub city of Lasbela. We had highlighted the case of the unfinished building of Government Girls Middle School Haji Natahal Goath's Hub lasbela. This school has 550 students, however, just one building with 4 rooms. It had been waiting to begin construction work of 5 more rooms and a washroom, but the contractor left the work in between and ran away for more than one and a half year.
I put up this story on Facebook and other social media networks after visiting the school and meeting the stakeholders.
Our volunteers began to amplify the story by sharing it and raising their concerns as well. By seeing the hype of the story, a local print journalist picked it for their newspaper, which led to an action by Deputy Commissioner of Lasbela. He asked the Assistant Commissioner of Hub city to visit the school and report back to his office, at which point the contractor was called upon by the DC office where the DC instructed him to immediately start the pending work. In this way, the school's pending construction began again.
We have received thank-you calls from the school administration who appreciated Alif's Ailaan's role in highlighting the matter.
