Pakistan may miss EFA goals by 2015-16

It seems unlikely that Pakistan will attain six Education For All Goals by 2015-16, as the progress on all indicators has been slow, reveals the Pakistan EFA Review Report 2015. 

The launch of the report coincided with the World Teachers’ Day falling on October 5. UNESCO, UNICEF, ILO and WFP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training organized a conference here in Islamabad to mark the World Teachers Day 2014. This year’s theme for the Day is “Invest in the future, invest in teachers”.

Middle School village Mahar Narejo in the vicinity of Pir jo Goth District Khairpur is closed since 8 years. The villagers told that due to Ghost teachers the school remained closed. They further told that teachers draw their salaries without coming to school. The children of the village are engaged in other household activities. Teacher Protests against P.T Alif Leaders

Mr. Jafar Shah Head Master Primary School Beriri District Ghotki protested against the leaders of P.T. Alif. He said that P.T Alif leaders have taken 4000 from each Teacher for the fixation of Teaching Allowance. The total amount becomes 58 Lac, which is illegally collected. They had to fix that deal with Treasury employees, but nothing has happened. The P.T.Alif leaders have taken away that huge amount. Arrest warrant issued against D.O Education

On the petition registered by Primary Teacher Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Bhatti against D.O Education Mr. Farooque Laghari Qamber alleging that he has stopped salaries of the teachers. He was called in the court for the fifth time, but he did not attend the Court. The court has issued arrest warrant of D.O. But he declared in one of his statement that has not stopped salaries.

More than 50 Female teachers working with Sindh Education Foundation in its Integrated Education Learning Program (IELP) Mehar District Dadu, protested for delaying in their salaries for last three months.
