KP govt to reconstruct 324 damaged schools

The provincial government is going to reconstruct over 324 schools, including 140 for girls, damaged in 2005 earthquake, an official said on Monday. Talking to reporters, District Education Officer Gohar Ali Khan said majority of the schools had developed cracks while some had sustained more damage. Security advice: Almost 1,000 schools issued notices

Inspection teams of Peshawar police visited 1,130 educational institutes across the district thus far and issued advisory notices to 991. Many schools stay shut owing to inadequate security

LAHORE: several schools and colleges were stayed shut Monday across the country primary because of inadequate security arrangements even after the end of extended winter vacations following the deadly Peshawar school attack last month. District Mirpur Khas: Number of Primary Schools, boys and girls, are closed at Jhudo due to negligence of Education Department. Kamal Aklani, Allah Rakhio Aklani, Esa Baloch, Murad Baloch and Ghulam Rasool Aklani are completely closed. Taj Muhammad Baloch, Hakim Baloch and Ibrahim Mir jat schools are running in the record only. Teachers are engaged in their private activities and getting their salaries at homes. Sir: The government has tightened the security of schools after the Peshawar military school tragedy, which shook the entire nation. It has issued a check list for enhancing and ensuring the security of public and private schools. A general perception is that parents and children do not feel safe going to their academic institutions. Parents and teachers have to play a pivotal role in removing the fear factor so that children can pay full attention to their studies.

Free education for all

Sir: All public and private schools reopened after an unusual winter break of 24 days. Parents sent their children with smiling faces but at heart they felt threatened as the terrorist event of December 16 scrolled in their minds in a stream of consciousness. Madressah reforms

Those opposing madressah reforms should be told that they are necessary for several reasons. First, their syllabus is outdated. Second, madressahs teach students to become only prayer leaders or fiery orators. Third, the scope of their curriculum is narrow and the essence of Islam has been totally forgotten.
