Computer Labs Being Set Up in Swat Schools
Female students and their teachers in Swat have appreciated the initiative of a local councilor to setup computer labs in schools. Establishment of computer labs in girls’ schools of Swat district recently kicked off with the Government Girls’ Primary School, Mingora.
Approval of Teachers’ Scale Upgradation
Chief Secretary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approved upgrading 221 Secondary School Teachers (SST) from grade 16 to grade 17. These teachers are from middle, high and higher secondary schools of education department KP. Out of 221 SST teachers, 102 are female and 119 are male teachers.
Peshawar Education Board has announced the result of Matric supplementary exams. Total 17,232 students appeared in this exam and the number of successful students was 10,498 students.
Shortage of Science Teachers in Higher Secondary School
Education department KP has approved science classes in four higher secondary schools. However, science teachers still have to be appointed. Government Girls Higher Secondary School Chamkani does not have science teachers which is creating trouble for students.
School Needs Upgradation
Locals of Sarki Klan have appreciated the efforts of school Head to improve education. Teachers’ attendance and school discipline have both improved dramatically. But the school needs to be upgraded to the status of a high school.
Establishment of Women University
MPA Haji Meer Ghulam Dastgeer Badyani said that due to the efforts of the governor, CM and higher education authority, funds for Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University Nushki have been approved. The establishment of Women University will bring a positive change in female education.
Obstacles in Establishment of New Universities
Secretary Communication Balochistan National Party, Agha Hasan Baloch Advocate, said that we are facing obstacles in establishment of new universities in Balochistan, despite meeting all requirements of Higher Education. He also condemned the cancellation of hiring more than 600 lecturers in Balochistan.
Deteriorating Condition of Mastung Education Department
The vacant positions of 29 out of 32 school Heads and lack of school building availability in 100 schools is depicting the deteriorating situation of education department. According to a report, 90 percent schools don’t have electricity and drinking water. All these statistics stressed on the government to pay special attention towards this situation.

Cabinet Approves Quranic Education Scheme for Federal Schools
The Federal Cabinet approved a draft bill for implementation of a new scheme of studies to impart Quranic education to Muslim students from class I to XII in all schools of Islamabad as well as those controlled by the federal government but located in provinces, FATA and other areas here on Wednesday.

“Outsource Literacy Project” introduced
It has been decided that a “Outsource Literacy Project” will be initiated in Punjab to promote literacy among illiterate population of the province including prisoners. Around 200 literacy centres will be established under this project.

Lahore Board has bgeun rechecking papers free of cost. Chairman Lahore Board, Ch. Muhammad Ismail, assured the media that papers rechecking will be conducted on merit. This will be done under the supervision of an inspection team designated by CM.

Chief Monitoring Officer Khairpur issued notices to the employees who were absent during his inspection of schools. He also found books in education department and took these books under his custody.
314 Schools Closed in Mirpurkhas
During a meeting of district council Mirpurkhas, the issues of 314 closed schools and unavailability of building in 465 schools were discussed and they said that government officers are responsible for this situation.

Model Schools & Govt’s Apathy
Central Academic Staff Association (CASA) which had gone on strike earlier, has warned it will issue a call for complete strike at Islamabad’s schools and colleges, yet again, if the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) do not meet its long-pending demands for staff post upgradation, promotions, revision of promotion formula, creation of new posts, and regularization of daily-wage staff and payment of salaries.

Last week, I visited Gomal University situated in Dera Ismail Khan. It was established in 1974 by Ex-PM Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. This university is a source of higher education for local students. Female enrolment in this university is good means it is contributing to the female education attainment as well.
