An official of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, has alleged massive irregularities in the purchase of stationery and construction works in the board, and demanded probe into the matter. Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Momin Khan, academic assistant in BISE Kohat, said the officials concerned had committed massive corruption in the purchase of unnecessary stationery.

KU increases stipends for PhD, MPhil students
The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has increased the scholarship funding for MPhil and PhD students from Rs14,000 to Rs16,000 and Rs16,000 to Rs30,000 respectively, Dr Syed Ghulam Musharraf, in-charge Admission Programme announced on Monday.

Under this scheme, PhD faculty from HEC-recognised universities across the country has been invited to write textbooks and monographs on diverse/ selected topics following HEC-approved curricula in various subjects.
Smoking among students
Nowadays, it has become a common practice among students living in hostels of universities that they openly indulge in smoking on the educational premises. A majority of students take to smoking just to have some fun, oblivious of the dangers associated with this pastime. 8 million drug addict children in schools
District Rahim Yar Khan: The schools all over the country have more than 8 million drug addict children and the government has decided to launch an action against the this social evil in the schools, colleges and universities. In the first phase, the drug suppliers and school authorities will be interrogated and arrests will be made, and in the second phase the drug addict children will be provided treatment and rehabilitation. New hospitals will also be built for this purpose.
