Minister reveals why education budget can`t be raised

Speaking at a seminar on the importance of education, State Minister for Federal Education Balighur Rehman said that the percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) spent on education is half of what it should be by international standards, but increasing the percentage is incredibly challenging in Pakistan, where the tax to GDP ratio is 9.1 per cent.

Govt plans to scale down education budget

The government is likely to scale down the education budget from the projected 7 per cent of the GDP to 4 per cent in the revised National Education Policy 2009. Madressah clean-up?

It appears that the Punjab government has been busy cleaning up the seminaries but away from public view. Rana Sanaullah, the provincial law minister, says the madressahs in Punjab have somehow been purged of militant elements. He did, as a prelude to his claim, `admit` to the presence earlier of 20 such seminaries whose students or faculty had been involved in terrorism, even if `only` as facilitators.

District Vehari: The building of Government Primary School Behram Wah, Near Machiwal is in a miserable condition and parents have appealed to the DCO to reconstruct the building. The school was a maktab school and was upgraded as primary school but the building was not improved.

School SMC funds grabbed; buildings without furniture

District Dadu: Most schools of Taluka Khairpur Nathan Shah, Union Council Gozo, Kundechki, Mitho Babar, Thalho Burira, Bughia, Chor Qamber, Kakar and Seta Road are facing a shortage of furniture because of a violation of SMC funds.
