The girl students clinched the top three positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar. The results were announced at a ceremony here. The top position-holder students were awarded cash prizes and commendation certificates. KP government defends Rs300m for Haqqania fund

A year-long celebration to commemorate the 50 years of establishment of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), started off yesterday. Islamabad’s many university hostels are over capacity

Hostels of Islamabad's many universities, both government, and private ones have more students than their capacity to hold them. According to the Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry’s statistics seen by ‘The News’, 20 universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission currently operate in the federal capital.

Only two Pak Universities among top 200 Asian Institutions

No Pakistani university could make it to top 100 universities in Asia as per the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Ranking 2016, confirming the dismal state of the country’s higher education. However, for the first time, the ranking has been expanded to 200 universities which allowed two Pakistani universities to feature in the list. Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad (QAU) stands at the 101st place among the top 200 while National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has been placed at 121 on the list.

Students of Urdu University end protest

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology students have ended their protest after the Vice Chancellor assured them of necessary action on demands. The FUUAST students had been protesting the recent increase in fee, lack of facilities, especially clean drinking water, in the rented building used as a campus, and classes in the summer season, for many days.

HEC budget: Nominal increase, spending priorities worry experts

Though the federal government has enhanced allocations for higher education when adjusted for inflation, real spending was largely unchanged, and development projects have also been reduced, academics and education experts said. The federal government has allocated Rs21.49 billion for the Higher Education Commission for the fiscal year 2016-17 in the Public Sector Development Programme as compared to Rs20.5 billion last year.

Girls High School was locked & captured by influential person

Abbottabad: The PTI educational change and emergency claims are in ineffective, the Union Council Nimly Meera, girls high school is captured and locked by the area influential person for twenty days. The ninth and tenth class students are forced to continue their education in an open sky and officials are totally silent on the situation. The residents of the area hold a protest against the culprit, but the administration, Education Department and provincial government fail to take action against them.

District Jafferabad: Jamaat leader and Ex-Senator Dr. Azizullah said that Balochistan is backward in the educational field as compared to other provinces of Pakistan.
