Illegal occupants evicted from Mansehra Primary School
The local administration on Thursday evicted illegal occupants from a primary school in Shania Bala area here. The illegal occupation of the building, continuing for over six years now, had forced the school’s children to get an education in a rented building. “We have taken back the possession of the school building, which was granted by Unicef in 2010 but had been illegally occupied by local landlord Allauddin ever since. Now, the school will have regular classes,” additional assistant commissioner, Zakir Hussain Jadoon told reporters.

Books and pens: ‘Funds being utilised to ensure every child goes to school’
“Resources are being utilised to streamline the education sector in the province to ensure every child has access to proper schooling without facing any discrimination.” said the Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan. Questioning language: Activists protest over low education standards
Activists of Dr. Khan Tehreek (DKT) protested against the current education system in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. They asked the incumbent government to switch to the mother language in all educational institutions. The activists gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club, carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands and shouted slogans against the government.
For women cadet college: Khattak orders for establishment of a team to select a site for cadet college in Mardan

Turbat University will soon shift in a permanent building
Vice Chancellor of Turbat University, Dr. Abdul Razzaq has said that with the help of Federal and Provincial Government, Higher Education commission and civil society strong foundations of the university have been set. By the end of this year, the university will be shifted to a permanent building.

FGTA plans agitation for uniform education system in the capital
The Federal Government Teachers Association (FGTA) has threatened agitation after the ongoing summer vacation against the Capital Administration and Development Division’s (CADD) failure to introduce a uniform education system in Islamabad’s government schools and colleges. The capital city has around 400 FG and 20 model schools and colleges, with the latter having much better facilities and staff than the former.
Two schools were given the go-ahead to raise fee
Justice Aamer Farooq of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday allowed another private school to increase its fee as it suspended a notification issued by the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA). On Thursday, the same bench had suspended the notification on the petition of City School System. On Friday, the court offered the same relief to the Beaconhouse School System after the school’s administration challenged the notification.
Clarification sought over online prospectus
The Director Higher Education Punjab has sought an explanation from director colleges of nine divisions of the province over growing complaints regarding the provision of an online prospectus that according to the students are available only in page format instead of PDF and also don’t carry important information about subjects’ combinations.
Summer school: French language lessons start from today
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will be hosting French language lessons from Monday (today), for children between the ages of six and 19. Activities such as games, drawing, and painting, role-playing, cooking and singing will be arranged as a tool to teach the language in a fun and simple way. Admissions may be obtained from the AIOU’s French department and will come with Rs 5,000 registration fee.

Two Pakistani institutes among world’s top 800 universities
Two Pakistani universities of higher education have been ranked among the world’s top 800 universities by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad and National University of Sciences And Technology (Nust), Islamabad are the two universities that made it to the top 800 universities in the world.
No Pak university could make its place among the top 500
No Pakistani university could secure a place among the top 500 world universities, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016, the most reputed higher education ranking agency. Only two Pakistani universities could succeed to make their place among the world’s top 800 universities including Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. QAU was ranked at 501-600 while NUST ranked at 601-800.
President Mamnoon Hussain said, lack of education is a barrier to the nation’s development
In his visit to a human development institute, he further said that women should play their role in national development by getting a higher education. He also said that the education system is in a dire need of improvement, it needs to remove the barriers and set up training centers for teachers.

Corruption in installation of CCTV cameras in educational institutes
Corruption of four trillion rupees has been revealed in the installation of CCTV cameras in federal educational institutes. CCTV cameras were to be installed in schools along with UPS and wireless routers but the corruption made this futile.
Education department asks for tax invoices from schools
The education department has asked schools to submit the tax invoices of all the development projects in schools. The education department had earlier directed the schools to spend on development projects from the non-salary budget.

Only 28 schools out of 200 achieved the enrolment target
The education department is thinking to transfer the Principals and Headmasters of those schools which showed poor results and fewer admission enrolments. There is a chance of transferring EDO Education officer and District Education officers. School education: EDO’s told to enroll all out-of-school kids
The School Education Department’s executive district officers (EDO’s) met at the Directorate of Staff Development (DSD) on Saturday to finalise the development schemes. The conference was held under the chairmanship of the School Education Secretary, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen. EDOs had been directed to provide details of head teachers who had failed to achieve retention and enrolment targets.

Extension in service of school security guards
The Punjab government has given an extension to the service of the security guards recruited on contractual basis in government schools till 31 December 2016. According to the written directives issued by Secretary of Higher Education (Punjab) Tahir Yousaf, the security guards who were inducted after rising threats to schools would continue their jobs until the end of this year on a contractual basis.
Punjab govt seeks details of Afghan school students
The Punjab government has sought details of all Afghan students studying in schools across the province, including Rawalpindi. Punjab Secretary Schools, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen has issued orders to District Executive Officers (DEO) of all 36 districts, including Rawalpindi to collect details of Afghan children studying in different schools of their respective districts.
Higher education: Over 41,000 sit in UET entry test
The combined entry test of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) for admission to engineering institutions across Punjab was conducted on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the UET, more than 41,000 candidates sat the entrance test for BSc (engineering) and BS (technology). The test was given simultaneously at 13 centers in the province from 10am until 11:40 am.

NAB raids Education Dept offices to seize records
The National Accountability Bureau conducted a raid at the offices of the provincial education department inside the premises of the Sindh Secretariat on Friday. NAB assistant director Asif Jahangir and his team conducted the raid to seize the “original records” of around 1,300 appointments made in 2012. The Sindh accountant general and some departments have expressed their reservations over these appointments, saying that 1,300 teachers were hired without fulfilling the requirements.
