FATA in need of 8,751 schools

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas require 13,407 primary and secondary government-owned schools whereas the number of existing schools stands at 4,656. This was stated in a FATA education budget analysis report presented at a seminar in Peshawar on Thursday. 10pc fee hike only at start of new academic year: Khuhro

Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has said that private schools will be able to increase 10 per cent school fee only at the start of the new academic year. He said that the private schools by increasing from 40 to 60 per cent school fee without prior approval of the director of private schools as required under the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation and Control) Ordinance, 2001 had violated the law and if they failed to reverse their decision, they could be sentenced from six months to one year in jail.

6 million children out of schools in Pakistan; 19011 schools with single teachers

The In-Charge National Education Management Information System Mr. Syed Nasir Ameen said that according to Pakistan Education Atlas 2015, 60 lac children in Pakistan are out of schools and 19011 schools in Sindh province are running with single teachers. Primary education in the country is in a sorry state altogether with the majority of school buildings faced with a lack of basic facilities. Students’ ability in Mathematics, Science and English is also pitiable. There is a dire need to bring reforms in the education system at large.

Primary school closed for months

The Government Primary School Village Jafar Khan Chanhio, District Hyderabad, is closed for the last six months. The closure of the school is posing inordinate difficulties for the parents of the children who are left with no choice but to send their children to schools located at great distances from their own locale. While the parents of the affected have protested for the restoration of the village school, no action has been taken by the concerned authorities so far.

A and O level schools not bound to teach Sindhi Subject: Education Minister

Sindh Education Minister Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that A and O level private Schools are not bound to teach Sindhi subject as part of their curriculum. Sindh Education Department has also allowed private schools to increase their fees up to 10 percent after approval from the government.

Chief Minister formed committee to enquire about private schools fees

The Chief Minister Sindh has issued orders for the formation of a committee for investigation of the private school fee hike. He added that private schools have the right to increase their fees up to no more than five percent.

Middle school roof collapsed; peon injured

The roof of Government Boys Middle School Village Ghaji Khuhawar, District Qamber, collapsed, injuring a peon of the school as a consequence. Head Master of the school reported to the media personnel that the school building is dilapidated and that a report has been sent to higher authorities for review.
