Taking notice: Education Secretary Ahsan Raja made OSD

The prime minister on Wednesday issued orders making Federal Education Secretary Muhammad Ahsan Raja an officer on special duty (OSD) based on his performance in office and after several complaints were lodged against him. Interestingly, the secretary was handpicked by State Minister Baligur Rehman in February 2014 to replace Qamar Chaudhry, the incumbent National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chief.

Making a shift: Swabi University purchases land for new campus

The University of Swabi has obtained 1,401 kanals of land in Ambar near the Peshawar-Islamabad Interchange for the construction of its new campus.

A ceremony was held at the new site on Thursday in this regard. Vice Chancellor Dr Noor Jehan was the chief guest on the occasion, while local elites, landowners, university officials and academics were also in attendance.

CADD okays Rs180m for FDE

Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Barrister Usman Ibrahim on Thursday approved the release of Rs180 million for the Federal Directorate of Education. UVAS: student’s woes

THE University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, started a four-year degree programme (BS Hons) in Fisheries and Aquaculture in 2007. On the very first day, the dean told students that they all were lucky they had been enrolled in that programme and were pioneers of that degree in Pakistan and there would be jobs for them after the completion of their studies.

Attack on a university student

Professional training for teachers

In wake of the recent incidents of terrorist’s attacks on schools, the government is more concerned about the “military” training of teachers these days but actually these teachers need professional training. Security of schools is not the responsibility of teachers or students. The existing training and education for teachers like PTC (Primary teacher’s certificate), B.Ed (Bachelor of education), M.Ed (Master of education) are not according to the demands of the modern era. Government needs to devise a comprehensive policy for the training of teachers.

District Jamshoro: Education at Thana Bhola Khan is ruined due to carelessness of Education Department and officers. According to reports, more than 65 Schools are closed in the different areas including 10 in Union Council Thano Bola Khan, 13 in Union Council Ahmed Khan, 10 in Union Council Siri, 12 in Union Council Mole Sharif, 20 in Union Council Tong; these schools are shown running in the records only.
