JUI’s leaders have condemned the privatization of government schools by the provincial government. They have said that the provincial government has become hostage to the NGOs. By handing over the schools to NGOs, government will destroy the education system. Without Support: Social Activist Gives Up Efforts To Educate Girls In Diamer

A social activist, who wanted to educate girls and women in Diamer Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, is planning to stop trying as he says he failed to find support from power corridors. Khan Muhammad Qureshi, 27, belongs to a valley where only 1% of the 100,000 women are literate. According to Alif Ailaan’s 2015 Pakistan District Education Rankings report, the valley, which shares its boundary with Kohistan district, is ranked 95 out of 144 districts with a 46 score for gender parity.

Senate Calls For Revival Of Student Unions

In a significant move, the Senate on Monday unanimously called for revival of student unions and on the demand of the opposition, the House decided to refer the matter to the House Committee of the Whole. Unions were banned during military ruler Ziaul Haq’s era. Chairman senate, Mian Raza Rabbani has formed a committee for compiling recommendations for restoring the students unions. Article 17(1) allows everyone to form an association. Students should not be deprived of their rights in democratic era.

Students Lives At Risk

Delay in the reconstruction and repair of dilapidated school buildings in Rawalpindi district has put the lives of thousands of students at risk. Some 311 projects were reportedly approved by the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) for the reconstruction of damaged rooms of schools on the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at a cost of Rs 630 million.

Hapless students, the visually-impaired block roads to be heard

Traffic was blocked for hours by two groups of protesters on Monday along a segment of the Canal Road and the Metro Bus route along Ferozepur Road. Millions embezzled in Baitul Mal Schools

District Muzaffargarh:  Corruption worth millions of rupees has been revealed in the schools which are being run under Baitul Mal. The institution is giving only RS.700/- per child instead of RS.2700/- to all the children. The children were given RS.2700/- but the School Management got RS.2000 back from the children, and those who did not want to give the money back were beaten up and forced to return the money.

Biometric verification starts against ghost teachers

Hyderabad: Biometric machines have been provided to District Education Officers and Taluka Education Officers of Hyderabad Division for the verification of ghost teachers. On the other hand, Taluka Education Officer, City Taluka visited the Primary School Mirza Muhalla and Qazi Akbaer Primary School. He found 20 staff members absent from their duties.
