Teacher suspended for renting out schoolrooms to tourists

The authorities have suspended the head teacher of government primary school Naran for renting out the school building to tourists for earning money. District Education Officer Gohir Ali told journalists that the head teacher confessed that he was renting out the schoolrooms to tourists. Several other teachers and clerks, who were found absent from duty during the surprise visit of DEO to different schools in Kaghan valley, were also suspended. The rooms of the schools had been rented out to tourists for the last many years, the DEO said. `I also recovered beds from two rooms of the start-of-art building of the school as the rooms were given on rent to tourists,` he added.

Students decry sub-human conditions at school

More than 700 minor girls and their teachers have been facing serious health hazards due to the odour oozing out of Dhed Nullah which passes close to the building of Government Girls High School, Malkey Kalan. Students say they feel suffocated because of the bad smell. Appointments to key offices at women`s university in violation of rules

In violation of its own rules Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) is being run on ad hoc arrangements. Sources in the FJWU said three positions registrar, treasurer and controller examination are vacant for a long time. It was alleged that the vice-chancellor, Dr Samina Amin Qadir, had not taken up the issue with the Punjab governor, who is the chancellor, and instead had appointed two retired educationists to the offices of treasurer and registrar. The VC was accused of using delaying tactics in constituting a committee to shortlist suitable candidates for each post, who will then be selected by the chancellor.

PU students, teachers visit military units

A group of 55 female and 39 male students including six faculty members from Punjab University, Lahore, visited various military units and formations at Lahore Garrison. The programme, ‘A Day Out with Army’ has been specifically introduced throughout the Army on instructions of Chief of Army Staff to acquaint students from different colleges and universities on routine functioning of Pakistan Army and its operational preparedness. Police vacate all but six schools

The police have vacated all but six government schools and colleges of Islamabad, where they’d been accommodated since their arrival from different parts of the country to maintain law and order in the city due to the PTI and PAT sit-ins outside Parliament House. Three more schools evacuated

On the directions of Islamabad High Court (IHC) police have evacuated three more government schools from Punjab Police possession in F-8/3, H-9 and PM Colony following protests outside the schools from the students against the forceful occupation of the schools. College and school students of Islamabad Wednesday protested against authorities’ failure to vacate nearly a dozen educational institutions from police. Students of the closed colleges gathered outside their institutions and staged protest against the government move. New Admission Policy in Medical Colleges creates trouble

PMDC has planned the new policy for the admissions in medical colleges for the female students by observing the attendance of the lady doctors in the hospitals. In comparison to male doctors attendance, female doctors remain absent from the hospitals. So, according to new policy of admission in the medical colleges there must be equal ratio of admission, because it would not affect the attendance of the students.
