Malala Yousafzai, Kailash Satyarthi win Nobel Peace Prize: Dawn
Children's rights activists Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited the two “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.“
Malala, now 17 and the youngest recipient of the Nobel prize, is an education campaigner in Pakistan who was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman two years ago.
Creation of Punjab HEC termed turning point in education sector
The academic circles on Monday welcomed the promulgation of an ordinance by the Punjab governor that provides for the creation of a Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Punjab for the regulation of provincial universities.
The news that went unnoticed in media is considered to be a turning point for higher education sector in the province. The Punjab Higher Education Commission has now been authorised to regulate funding of the universities in the province, and to also select their vice chancellors.
10pc quota in private institute for deserving students
A committee constituted to improve the system of provision of scholarships to the deserving non-affording kids has decided to allocate 10 per cent quota for the deserving children in private chains of colleges and schools.
The Punjab government has already completed the legislation to ask private schools to offer free education to non-affording talented students.
Government school teachers did not show up at camps set up by the district administration to raise dengue awareness during Eid holidays. Most of the teachers The Express Tribune spoke to said that instead of going to the anti-dengue camps, they celebrated Eid with their families. At the same time, they also lashed out at the government for piling ‘extra duties’ on them.
“Our job is teaching. Forcing us to perform extra duties [for other departments] is compromising students’ grades, for which teachers are always held responsible,” said Raja Ayaz Satti, a teacher at the Government High School No. 1 Rawalpindi.
Going hi-tech: Education information management being revamped
The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to revamp the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) to make it accessible for area education managers and education institutes. According to official documents, the prime purpose of the system would be to increase coordination between Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and educational institutes. CADD controls 424 education institutes and FDE in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Many Schools have lost their value in the rural areas of Islamabad. Schools are upgraded to ‘model school’ on boards without providing any basic facilities. Residents of the area want CADD to improve the quality of education and provide basic facilities to these schools.

Teachers will not be posted in School Boards.
It’s been decided that teachers will not be posted in examination boards of 5th and 8th class in whole province anymore and those teachers who are appointed on the important positions of commission, will be relived from their duties.
Teachers to be sacked over disappointing results
Ministry of Education has decided to take strict action against teachers, owners and principals of High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools of Punjab for disappointing results. The Secretary of Education has sent a summary to CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif in which he seeks permission to withdraw their one year salary, sack them and send them to jail. Complete

Infringement of School Building Construction Work
The villagers of Darya Khan Murree erupted against the contractor of the construction work of Girls Primary School Ali Nawaz Murree District Naushehro feroz. They told media that since four years the school is under construction, but no attention is paid on the work. They demanded from the higher authorities to take action against the responsible persons and save the future of girls.
School Wall Falls, kills a Child
A student of Fifth Class, Shaista died due to falling of wall of Primary School Village Nim Sharif Taluka Ratodero, District Larkana. On the occasion, Head Master Mr. Abdul Malik Brohi told that he has informed higher authorities about the condition of the school, but nothing positive is done. He added that children were playing in the break time, suddenly the wall of the school fall and a student died.
More than 50 Schools Closed In Taluka Chimber District Thatto
More than 50 Schools are closed and many of them are in decaying position due to non-seriousness of A.D.E.O Taluka Chimber District Thatto. The villagers have told that the position of the schools is poor; buildings can fall at any time. The teachers are not attending schools and drawing their salaries. The students are compelled to work in the fields and take care of the cattle farms. They demanded from the higher authorities to take notice on priority basis.

Corruption in Computer Education in Government Schools of District Badin
A Protest Movement is started by Muslim League Youth Wing District Badin against the Corruption in Computer Education by the Private Institutes in Government Schools. They have demanded the list of computer Labs and Budget List from the institutes. They have appealed to media to cooperate in that matter to highlight the issue publicly. They have written letters to the private institutes to highlight the points written in letter clearly within time frame. If they failed to provide evidence, the protest would be expended against them.
Seminar on “Education is necessary for All”
M.N.A Functional Muslim League Mr. Syed Kazim Ali Shah attended Seminar with the title of “Education is Necessary for all” at Higher Secondary School Hingorja District Khairpur. He said that there should be Education Emergency in order to promote Education. The curriculum must be revised; education of Sindh must be standardized. He praised the efforts of teachers and said that due teachers, Doctors, Engineers, and Politicians have been created.
Historical School under Drawbacks
Shah Abdul Latif School District Shikarpur is a historical school. It was established before the creation of Pakistan, where Social and Religious Education was given to the students. But after the creation of Pakistan the building of the school was decaying. But in 1950, with the efforts of Educationalist Mr. Arz Muhammed Shaikh this school was running. In the region of Mr. Zulifqar Ali Bhutto it was promoted to High School. But now a days this schools is without basic facilities; the teachers and students are worried about the school. The contractor has taken away the budget for construction of the building. The higher authorities have been informed about the situation but no action is taken.
SPLA condemns illegal promotions
A meeting was held at Government High Secondary Ghulam Hussain Hidayat ul Allah School Hyderabad by Chairman Sindh Professors and Subject Specialist Action Committee Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Khoso. It was declared in the meeting that, the up gradation from 17 to 18 grades has been put back and neglected by the DPC. The DPC has promoted junior teachers by taking bribe from them. They have condemned the illegal promotions of the juniors which is the basic right of the teachers who are seniors. They demanded from the higher authorities to take notice.
Protest for Restoration of Principal
The Teachers of Degree College Wada Bozdar, District Khairpur protested for the restoration of Principal Mr. Qurban Ali Bozdar. The President of SPLA Sukkur Region Mr. Syed Ghulam Asghar Shah has called a meeting on Saturday to make a strategy for the illegal transfer of Principal. Steps to root out Copy Culture
The Chairman of Indus Social Forum Mr. Syed Khalil Ahmed Shah conducted a Press Conference Meeting at Press Club Kandiaro, District Naushehroferoz. He told media that struggle to finish Copy Culture is continued since years. We have to promote Education not by getting grades through copy culture, but by embracing education on talent level.
