Scores of primary schools become a liability to KP

Of the 20,100 government primary schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 4,000 are under-enrolled and thus, becoming a liability to the government. According to them, a primary school with less than 40 students is considered under-enrolled. Since primary schools offer six classes from nursery to fifth grade, under-enrolment means they have less than seven students in every class.

Tribesmen want staff for schools

Elders and students Friday staged protest at Marble Chowk to demand teaching staff for the seven state-run schools built about 10 years ago in different areas inhabited by the Mulagori tribe in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency. The demonstrators were holding placards. They appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to provide teaching and non-teaching staff to the schools and secure future of thousands of children in the area.

Non-existence of girls school resented

The people of Wanda Bagni have complained there exists no girls school in their village on the outskirts of Lakki city. The village is populated by around 1,000 people. Girl student injured in firing incident

A girl was injured when unidentified men opened fire on a college van in Charsadda district on Friday, police said. The van came under attack at Manikhel area in Charsadda district where rivals started indiscriminate firing on driver Ali Khan over old personal enmity. As a result, fourth year student of Govt College Charssada, Sumbal, sustained injuries. She was shifted to a hospital. Police have registered a case.

Girls’ school blown up in Orakzai Agency

Militants blew up a state-run school for girls in Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Sunday.The sources said that unidentified persons planted explosives at various places in the Government Girls Middle School in Bezot area in lower Orakzai Agency and triggered the explosion early in the day. “Two rooms and verandah of the school were destroyed and the boundary wall was damaged in the explosion which took place at 6am,” an official of the political administration said.

Salaries of FATA ACS, education director attached

The Peshawar High Court on Friday attached the salaries of Fata additional chief secretary (ACS) and director education for not submitting their written replies in the court despite several notices issued to them in an appointment case. 2.3 million children are not enrolled in Balochistan: CM Malik

QUETTA: The World Bank has showed interest in providing financial support for the uplift of different sectors in Balochistan including irrigation, girls’ education, agriculture and livestock. Dr Baloch told the World Bank delegation that 80 per cent population of Balochistan is dependent on agriculture for their livelihoods while underground water level has declined at alarming level.

“Due to lack of dams, rainwater drained out into sea. Agriculture in Balochistan is facing a severe crisis,” he said, adding that the government and QESCO have also been providing subsidy on 30,000 tube wells.

He said that 70pc of precious mines and minerals went to waste due to old and traditional mining methods. “Some 2.3 million children are not enrolled in Balochistan,” the CM added.

ISLAMABAD: Almost all the federal educational institutions lack proper transport facilities to fulfill the needs of their students. Only 30 out of 422 institutions of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have less than 100 buses. A large number of students sitting on rooftops or stuffed inside private buses is a common sight both in the morning and after school hours. ISLAMABAD: Government as well as private education institutes of the federal capital have started violating article 25 A of the constitution. According to reports of the sources, Federal Government School for Girls G-9/3 and OPF Girls College F-8 are taking money from students for making security cards. Feb 12 last date for HSSC exam applications

February 12, 2015 is the last date for the submission of admission applications for the 2015 annual Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams under the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE). According to an RBISE representative, the exams will commence on May 7, 2015, for which both part one and part two students can submit their forms until February 12, 2015, without any fine until February 23, 2015. However, after this date double fee and then triple fee would be charged.

5,000 college teaching interns in Punjab unpaid for four months

Over 5,000 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) who were hired as a stopgap arrangement to teach at public sector colleges of Punjab have not received their monthly stipend since October 2014. The delay in monthly stipend of Rs30,000 per month to each of the CTI has been irking the teaching interns who have now demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to look into the matter and provide relief to them.

Student injured as assailants target school van in Mini Khela Charsadda

A girl was injured on Friday Morning when un identified assailants opened fired at a school van in Mini Khela Charsadda district.  The young victim who was in critical condition was shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Charsadda right after the attck. Influential Patwari Demolishes School Building to Expand his house

Dehrki:  Ghulam Farid Kanjoo, an influential Patwari (Revenue clerk) demolished primary school building at village Bahoo Kanjoo to expand his house and bungled bricks, and other material of the school.  The school was constructed only 3 years ago and the building had not been handed over to the government yet.  EDO Education was informed but no action was taken.

Unclaimed Bag Creates Havoc At Middle School Channigoth

Channigoth:  An unclaimed bag created havoc at the Government Middle School, Channigoth and Bomb Disposal Squad was called in. 432 Schools To Be Handed Over To Private Sector

Education in District Qamber Shahdadkot on the verge of destruction

District Qamber Shahdadkot: Sindh Express News has issued report of the Education condition of district Qamber where many of the schools are closed and most of them are under acute shortage of basic facilities of Drinking water, furniture, bathrooms, compound walls, and other. Teachers absent from rural village Schools

District Ghotki: As compare to rural areas schools, city schools are provided more than required teachers. The excessive number of Teachers in city schools have reduced the number of Teachers in rural village Schools and that has created difficulty in Education process. There are 160 Students in Government Primary School village sher Muhammad Khoso, and number of Teachers are 9, 6 male, 3 female, whereas in Primary School Hur Colony school are 4 Teachers for 60 students, in Primary School Station 16 Teachers for 150 Students, in Hyder Shah Primary School are 15 Teachers for 250 students, in Primary School Gul colony are 20 teachers for 450 students. Sindh Education in worst condition; joint effort is needed; Writers and Education experts

Hyderabad: The writers, thinkers and education experts have opined that condition of Education in Sindh is in worst position; joint effort is required to promote it and develop it. The report says that 80% schools are under shortage of drinking water; 11000 schools are running without buildings; currently 4000000 Students are getting Education in 44000 Primary and 5000 Middle schools; whereas the same number of students are out of schools; 11669 Schools without buildings, 24000 without compound walls and 39000 schools are running without electricity. Likewise 312 schools are running in private hired buildings. Collectively 49 students continue their study up to matric class. While addressing to the seminar Mr. Jami Chandio said 134 billion rupees have been speared for Education from 638 million rupees yearly budget, where 119 million are utilized for salaries of the teaching staff. He added that on the ranking of Education, Karachi district is on 56 number and other 16 districts are backwards. It was highlighted in the seminar that private tuition has become the trend of the society which is incurable wound for the nation. Principal Agha Khan School Mr. Liquat Mirani said 7000 teachers from Sindh are out of country which is deathblow to Education; whereas there is acute shortage of computers and technical Education in the colleges and Schools which must be focused and promoted.

15 Ghost Teachers suspended

District Badin: Secretary Education Mr. Fazal Ul Allah Pechuho has suspended 15 Ghost Teachers including two male Teachers by issuing notice no. 7.5.11. The Ghost Teachers were appointed 15 years ago, but they all did not attend schools for a single day they were staying in foreign countries and were getting their salaries.

50 Schools closed due to involvement of local landlords and Ghost Teachers

District Ghotki: More than 50 Schools are closed in the areas of Daharki. Where school buildings have been captured by the local landlords and turned to cattle farms and grain stores; most of the school buildings are used as (ottaq) sitting places of local people.
