Ensuring education for all is state's responsibility: Ishaq Baloch
A seminar on Budgeting for Rights: Examining Post Devolution Fiscal Spaces in conjunction with a national education campaign was held in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion‚ National Party leader Ishaq Baloch said that majority of our population can't afford to send their children to school. Unless the 25 million out of school children are given access to education‚ we as a nation can't succeed. Ensuring education for all is the state's responsibility.
While discussing PTI's education plans for KPK‚ MNA Shafqat Mehmood said we want to ensure that all classes of society have access to the same quality of education.
Executive Director of Centre for Civic Education Pakistan Zafarullah Khan said though article 25-A of the constitution guarantees free and compulsory education to all‚ there is no formal national law governing this right. He stressed the need for a check and balance system to ensure valued-based allocation and implementation of the education budget so that resources are utilised not only to improve enrollment‚ student retention and quality of education but to also focus on areas of the country that have previously received little or no attention.
MNA Shakir Awan of the PML-N‚ and Musharraf Zaidi of Alif Ailaan Organization also spoke on the occasion.
