PM approves construction of 1,000 schools

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday approved construction of 1,000 schools for 200,000 children without shelter of Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra districts and other earthquake-affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The prime minister directed the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) to ensure completion of the project in one year. The project will cost Rs 8 billion.

Hyderabad:   Special Education Centers at Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad running under Sindh Government are lacking basic facilities of Scholarship stipend, books, and Stationary and eid gifts. Due to untrained Teachers, students are unable to study their special course and they are compelled to study general courses and even, no any special course is formed to teach. Millions of amount of funds is issued, but that is taken away through underground corruption. Government is silent and does not take action and issue any notice.

Petition against 40000 ghost teachers-cum-journalist filed

A constitutional petition (CP) against 40,000 ghost teachers was field in the Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday. The CP had in particular focused on those teachers, who got jobs in government schoolsas teachers but they worked for print and electronic media as reporters. Such ghost teachers-cum-journalists had continued to drawing salary and perks and privilege from Sindh government.

Education for girls

My father always laid emphasis on my studies. Since I was a little girl, he told me he wanted to see me working when I grew up. If I did this, I could buy all the dollies in the world since I’d be very rich, and this, of course, attracted me. I would go to school every day, and watch my cleaning lady’s son go, as well, but not her daughter. The young girl, barely 16, would stay home and help clean the house.

Plight of government schools in Panjgur

Panjgur, being one of the largest districts of Balochistan, with a population of several hundred thousand, has 48 primary schools (40 for girls, eight for boys), 18 middle schools (three for girls and 10 for boys), and 26 high schools (16 for boys and 10 for girls).
