Highly unbalanced teacher student Ratio in most of Schools

In most of schools, Teacher students ratio are not very Good. In upcoming Five Years there is a need of 677 new Class rooms. 19.2 % of schools do not have satisfactory Boundary walls, 55 % of Schools do not have Toilets while 36%  of schools are lacking drinking water facility.

Enrolment forms for Class-IX

The Private Schools Management Associations (PSMA) has demanded an extension in the deadline for the submission of enrolment forms for Class-IX. On Friday, PSMA Chairman Sharaf-uz-Zaman disapproved the date to submit forms announced by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) and demanded more time for students wishing to enrol and for schools to complete their recognition process.

Bon voyage: Over 150 students awarded Fulbright grants

A total of 157 graduate students have been awarded Fulbright scholarships to study for a master’s or PhD degree at US universities this year, said a press release on Friday. The Fulbright grantees represent every province of Pakistan and will be studying engineering, energy management, business and social sciences.

Govt school bombed, another bomb defused in Charsadda

Militants blew up a government boys high school with explosives on Friday. The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) foiled the terror bid by defusing another bomb near the scene. The police said that unidentified miscreants planted explosives in the government-run boys high school located in Atokey Sheikhano area of Shabqar Tehsil in Charsadda. A major portion of the school building was destroyed as a result of the explosion but no casualties were reported as the building was vacant and was situated far from the residential area.

Mind your marks: BISE accused of manipulating inter results 

A consumer court issued notices to the secretary and controller exams of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Abbottabad to appear in court on August 25 and defend the organisation against charges of manipulating results. Students of different educational institutions and their parents have accused the BISE administration of favouring certain schools by giving extra marks to weak pupils, while those who usually passed with flying colors were not given the marks they deserved. Representing the students, Divisional Warden Civil Defence Prof GM Samsam, also an educationist, filed a petition with the consumer court after the intermediate results were announced. He accused the board’s administration of tampering with the results and destroying the future of several talented students.

PU Syndicate approves giving land to LDA

The Punjab University Syndicate on Friday granted approval in principle to give 305 kanals to the Lahore Development Authority for the construction of a road from opposite Jinnah Hospital, Canal Road, to be linked with Wahdat Road (Iqbal Town) through the varsity land. The Syndicate meeting chaired by VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran discussed the project at length and, according to sources, the Syndicate members stressed the university should also assertand include a clause that it would not give commercialization fee to the LDA. As the draft agreement says the proposed road will benefit the PU in achievement of its objectives of attaining financial resources for furtherance and improvement of educational standards, the Syndicate members also asked about the benefit in financial terms.

‘Facing Global Challenges’: Islamic countries’ VCs to meet on August 26-27

The third Vice-Chancellors (VC) Forum of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) will be held in Islamabad on August 26-27 this year. The forum is expected to be attended by over 300 VCs, rectors and presidents of universities and higher education institutions of the Islamic world and is expected to provide a platform to university leaders to develop collaborative links, strengthen cooperation and encourage dialogue among representative institutions.
