Education best investment in future, says PM

Terming education as pre-requisite for democracy Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that government was striving to develop an educational system compatible with the requirements of a knowledge-based economy. Addressing at the Air University Convocation in Islamabad on Thursday, Premier Sharif said, "Everyone in the country is allowed to exercise the fundamental right to freedom of speech in Pakistan, but it's only possible through equipping the nation with quality education."

PTI’s education emergency in KP yields no concrete results

No visible improvement has been witnessed anywhere in the province and not a single project of significance could be launched for promotion of education since an ‘education emergency’ was clamped in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led coalition government. Provincial Minister for Education Mohammad Atif Khan, in his recent presentation to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, presented a dismal picture of the situation and showed his inability to overcome it.

Government rehabilitates 150 destroyed FATA schools

A total of 150 destroyed schools have so far been rehabilitated out of 480 destroyed by various militants in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The remaining 330 destroyed schools were being rehabilitated on priority, an official source in Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (Safron) told APP.

Reforms in education only way to make Pakistan a developed country: PM Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday has said that the government will introduce reforms in education system to make it in accordance with the needs of modern times as it is the only way to make Pakistan a developed country. Addressing the Convocation of Air University Islamabad, the PM said that the Constitution of Pakistan is based on Islamic principles and Islam stresses the need for education.

Prioritising education: Religious scholars ask govt to act swiftly

The delay in formulating an education policy, lack of political will and accountability, insufficient funding, declining standards and commercialisation are the major obstacles in education prosperity in Pakistan. This was the consensus among participants of a seminar on obstacles in education prosperity jointly organised by Pak Institute for Peace Studies and Alif Ailaan here on Wednesday. The speakers urged the government, policymakers and politicians to lay focus on the education sector to overcome the education emergency, said a press release.

Teachers to get promotions, incentives on exam based results

KP chief minister Pervaiz Khattak has announced promulgation of the rationalization policy for schools of 5 districts including Peshawar, Charsada, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi. It would be later extended throughout the province. Under the policy, teachers in all these districts would be transferred and posted in schools of their nearest place of choice.

Education dept devised plan to discourage cheating in exams
