How the state fails its children by Nargis Sethi

VISITING a government-run school in an urban centre a few months ago, I was shocked to see 50 children sitting in a classroom that clearly had space for no more than 25 students. The children were seated in three rows with hardly any space between each row; three or more students were seated most uncomfortably at each desk. On the backs of the chairs hung their heavy schoolbags leaving very little space for them to sit and work.

Pakistani perspective essential for students by M Omar Iftikhar

EVERY nation gives utmost value to education and to produce learned minds. All institutions of learning therefore play a pivotal role in disseminating such knowledge that broadens the mental horizon hence giving students the ability to think and act with wisdom to become an integral part of the country’s socio-economic growth. Unfortunately in Pakistan the education sector has been covered with dust and debris for decades as the government has seldom given this sector due importance.
