KP to make education compulsory for all, regulate private institutions

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would introduce three bills for legislation to make education compulsory for every child, regularise private education institutions and recruit school-specific and non-transferable government teachers. The decisions were taken at the first high-level stocktaking meeting of Elementary and Secondary Education (E & SE) and Higher Education Department (HED). Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak co-chaired the meeting, said a handout.

24,000 teachers to be recruited: CM

Dr Jahan appointed as Swat varsity officiating VC

Committees to conduct internal audit of Lakki schools formed

GPS takker mardan needs classrooms to accommodates GGHS students


Government Primary School (GPS) Takkar in Mardan needs makeshift rooms to accommodate students due to unavailability of proper classrooms. The girls of Government Girls High School (GGHS) Takkar—one of the most prominent girls schools of Mardan—were shifted to GPS recently due to reconstruction of their old school building. CADD seeks Rs140m to pay salaries to daily wagers

Islamabad: The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has asked the Finance Division for Rs140 million to pay salaries to the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) employees long working on daily wage basis. According to Minister of State for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the division has sought Rs140 million supplementary grant for payment of salary to FDE daily wagers, both teaching and non-teaching employees.

FDE warns employees against contacting higher authorities

The Federal Directorate of Education has warned its employees against directly approaching the higher authorities for favours or redressal of complaints. According to an office order issued by FDE deputy director (admin) Chaudhry Gulzar Ahmad, Rules 3 and 4 of the Civil Servants (appeal) Rules 1977 and Section 22(2) of Civil Servants Act 1973 clearly tell government employees about how to formally voice personal grievances or complaints for resolution.

Lahore: The University of Health Sciences Lahore has declared the result of First Professional MBBS part II annual examination 2015. According to a press release issued on Sunday, a total of 4,787 candidates of 34 medical colleges appeared in the exam out of which 3,952 passed and 828 failed. Overall pass percentage is 82.62pc.

PEF test today

Lahore: Punjab Government has decided to maintain the legal status of all campuses of private universities. This decision was taken based on the good performance of these institutions. The selection board will appoint professors in these campuses on a regular basis. To improve research and analysis, at least two M.Phil teachers and one PhD teachers will be appointed. The responsibility to conduct examinations and produce results will also be handed over completely to the administrations of these campuses.

197 schools running without buildings

Hyderabad/Tando Bagho: About 197 schools, out of 720 primary girls’ and boys’ schools in Taluka Tando Bagho are functioning without buildings. Students are compelled to attend school under the open sky in the cold winter; around 638 schools are functioning with a coeducation system whereas 250 buildings are missing compound walls, more than 600 schools are facing a shortage of clean drinking water and toilets and 695 buildings have no electricity supply.
