79pc children face violence in KP

A country-wide study conducted by Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), University of the Punjab shows that around 70 per cent of the children in Pakistan face violence in one form or the other during their childhood.Findings of the study were shared at a ‘National Consultation on Referral Mechanism for Re-unification of Missing Children’ organised by the Ministry of Human Rights in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh and World Vision.

Rs 5b spent under PM Fee Reimbursement Scheme

As many as 108,036 deserving students of the less developed areas have been paid Rs 5 billion by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) through Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme till June. According to the details of HEC documents, a total of 78,349 Master students while 25,333 MS/MPhil and 4,354 PhD students from all provinces/agencies have been benefitted from the scheme.

Why isn’t anything being done about the 10,000 ghost madrassas in Sindh?

There’s just one problem: many of these supposed madrassas don’t actually exist. A meeting, between the officials of Sindh, held in May at the chief minister’s house in the provincial capital of Karachi, was told by the inspector general of the Sindh police that over 10,000 ghost madrassas had been unearthed through physical verification. 12 scholars from Sindh set to leave for UK

Twelve candidates from across Sindh collected their certificates and prizes during the pre-departure orientation of the Chevening programme held at British Deputy High Commission office on Monday. Mohmand Agency: A school in Mohmand Agency district Ambaar Sira Shah which was functional without any support will be closed on 1st September. A Political Agent Mr. Amjad Khan approved the salaries of 2 teachers in 2011, but they ended after his transfer. Since then, a local person was giving salaries to teachers so the school was functional. 200 students were able to receive education in the school, but after an accident, the local was unable to pay. The school will now be closed.
