Letters to the Editor

Education a means for stability

Education is a simple process of learning and knowledge. This is not limited to schools only. Education starts from the bosom of the mother. Parents and family instil good morals and make responsible citizens oftheir children. The home is called the first school for children, but formal education starts from the school, where they are taught and learn how to act and to understand what is going on around them.

Obsession for high grades

There are three surah in the Qur’an which are named after insects, Surah Nahl, chapter 16, SurahNaml chapter 27, and Surah Ankaboot, chapter 29. Each insect has a special quality regarding striving without giving up, which we must learn from them. None of them gives up. Note, how many times the honey comb is emptied by men! Every time it is filled by the efforts of bees who swarm whole day in fields and farms to collect few drops of honey, men take away leaving the honey comb like a haunted house.

Increasing number of medical colleges

Recently, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of private medical colleges. Why is there this upsurge? I think the setting up of new private medical schools inPakistan is, day by day, creating a sense of inferiority complex in students who cannot get admission in well-statured institutions due to financial problems. Another view is that we are creating an atmosphere where doctors of the future will approach their practical field with a touch of business.
